Wokingham Town were founded in 1875, and joined their first semi-professional league in 1954; the Metropolitan League. After joining the Itshmian League in 1973, they got promoted to the Premier Division nine years later. In 2001 after relegation to the Hellenic League, and two unsuccessful merges, they joined Emmbrook Sports at Lowther Road. Emmbrook had been formed more recently in 1989, and Wokingham & Emmbrook was formed.

The team started competing in the Hellenic Football League Division One East in 2004-05, until they were promoted in 2009-10 and began a ground share with Bracknell Town in order to compete in the Hellenic League Premier Division. The club achieved four Reading Senior Cups consecutively from 2012 through 2015, with their first ever League title coming in the 2014-15 season in the Hellenic Division One East.

The club’s results in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons earned them promotion to the Combined Counties League Premier Division North.

Standings:

The Lions will look to continue their highly impressive run of form, with the team winning all of their last three matches. Wembley have sprung from 18th place in the league to 7th over the last three matchdays. With ten goals scored in those three games, and only two goals conceded, The Lions appear to have got over their defensive instability from the opening fixtures, whilst also finding incredible goal scoring form. Wokingham & Emmbrook have made a slow start to the season, with four losses out of four. Despite the record, they have managed to score in each of their last three games, meaning goals will be expected going into Saturday’s match.
