Oxhey Jets are a relatively young club in the football Pyramid, only being formed in 1972 as a youth team, before establishing as a senior team in the early 1980s. Their first official season was in the Herts Senior County League in 1981. They most often played in the Premier Division for 15 consecutive years, until they were handed a place in the Spartan South Midlands League in 2004.

The 2004-05 season saw more success for the Jets, as they gained back to back promotions as champions. 2006 saw the Jets compete in the FA Cup for the first time, untimely ending in the Preliminary round at home to Lowestoft. One of Oxhey’s more impressive achievements was becoming the second team to ever reach the final of the Herts Senior Cup, only to be beaten 7-2 in the Final by Bishop’s Stortford.

Wembley go into the match on a hot-streak of 4 wins in a row in the League, scoring 13 and only conceding two. The impressive run of wins has left them 6th in their respective League, whereas Oxhey Jets sit 13th in the Spartan South Midlands Football League. The Jets’ form is varying, having won one, drew two and lost two of their last 5, conceding 18, but scoring 8. The match is the First Round Qualifying stage of the FA Vase.
