Virginia Water FC was founded in 1919, when they joined the Woking & District League. They competed in this league until 1964 when they moved to the Surrey Intermediate League, and then the Spartan League.

In the 1970’s the club earned promotion to the Combined Counties League, whilst also reaching the first round of the FA Vase, before losing 3-1 to Egham Town.

The club suffered successive relegations in the 80’s before promotion in 1992, following a Surrey Intermediate Cup win over Coney Hall in the Final. In the 95, 96 and 97 season the club won the County Cup, the League and the League Cup.

In the 2017-18 season the club reached the highest level of football they had played in, after reaching Step 5 and the Hellenic Premier Division.

Standings:

The Lions head into the weekend following the disappointing defeat last weekend at Vale Farm Vs Abbey Rangers. After a spirited performance from 10 men, the match ended 3-2 but provided great entertainment factor especially in the closing stages. This result leaves Wembley 10th in the League having played eight and winning four, on 12 points. Virginia Water have started the season steadily, with Five points from Eight games. Their most recent match was a 2-1 win away over Reading City FC. This being their first win of the season, leaves them 15th place, 5 places and 7 points behind this week’s visitors.
