Reading City is a relatively new club that was founded in 2001 as Highmoor, after merging Highmoor and Ibis. Both of these teams competed in the Reading Senior League, in the Second and Premier Divisions respectively. In their first season in the Second Division, the club went unbeaten and were crowned league champions, winning the Reading Senior Cup two years later against Woodley Town.
Another successful season in 2010-11 saw them crowned champions of the Premier Division, earning promotion to the Hellenic League Division One East. A successful debut season saw them promoted to the Hellenic League Premier Division, before being renamed to Reading City FC in 2018. The end of the 2020-21 season saw the club transferred to the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North.
Standings:
The two sides meet for the second time this season, with the reverse fixture ending in a 2-2 draw in November. Since then there hasn’t been too much to split the two sides, who are placed just two positions and six points away from each other in the table. Wembley have struggled to find consistent form in recent weeks, picking up 7 points from their last possible 15. Reading City boast a similar record, featuring both a heavy defeat and an emphatic win in two of their last three games.
