Egham Town were originally founded as Runnymede Rovers in 1877, before the rebranding to Egham started in 1905. They were founding members of the Surrey Senior League in 1922, where they won their first honours by winning the league in their first season. By the 1927-28 season, the club finished second in the League and were promoted to the Spartan League Division One West. They were then promoted to the Premier Division in 1929-30, but were relegated two seasons after finishing bottom of the league.
In 2012 the club earned promotion from the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division to the Southern League Division One Central. They earned a promotion play-off place in the 2015-16 season but lost to St Ives Town on penalties in the Semi-Final. Their most recent full season resulted in a relegation to their current league, the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division.
Standings:
The Lions will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend after a slight dip in form following the big 6-0 win against Tadley Calleva. They currently sit 10th in the League, 6 placed behind 4th placed Egham. The Hosts this weekend will be in good spirits, winning two games on the trot and mounting an effort to break into the top three. The game will prove to be a tough one for the Lions, but time and time again they have proved they are up for the fight.
Current Form:
Wembley – LWDLD
Egham – DWL*WW
