Edgware Town FC was founded in 1939, and had a few title winning seasons in their early years before joining the Corinthian League for 1947-48.

A Middlesex Senior Cup victory came against Enfield in 1948, and then the club endured a 14 year wait for more silverware, in the form of a Memorial Shield. Following the disbanding of the Corinthian League, they joined the Athenian League Division One. A third placed finish in their first season saw them promoted to the Premier Division.

The club was renamed as Edgware in 1972, before a promotion season in 1981-82 was halted by the current ground (White Lion Ground) didn’t meet the league requirements. They were renamed again in 1987 back to Edgware Town.

In 2006 Edgware Town were moved to the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division, and had an incredibly successful season winning the League, Premier Cup and Challenge Trophy in the same season. At the end of the 2018 season the club had to disband due to financial troubles, but didn’t officially fold.

The club began playing again in 2014, at Silver Jubilee Park as part of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One. They won the division One in 2015-16 and were moved to the Combined Counties Football League Premier Division North.

Standings:

The Lions and the Wares are both sat in a middle table position going into this weekend’s derby, with only three points separating them. Wembley however have played more games. Edgware are off the back of a 3-1 cup win vs Virginia Water, but have struggled to turn draws into wins in the last few league fixtures. Winless in 4 in the league the Wares will be looking to take maximum points from the weekend. Wembley managed to pick up a first win in 5 last weekend against St Panteleimon, successfully building upon the strong draw away at Egham Town.

Current Form:

Wembley – DLDDW

Edgware Town FC – LLDDW
