LEVERSTOCK GREEN 1, WEMBLEY 3,

Spartan South Midlands League – Premier Division
Player-of-the-Year Wayne Walters’ early goal set up Wembley’s first win in seven matches, and also their third success at Pancake Lane in three visits.
Yassine Fehmi-Gil fired over when well-placed just after the start before Walters put the Lions in front with a firm header from Ayoub Amellal’s precise corner-kick in the fifth minute.
A goal up, the visitors held firm control of proceedings thereafter, and Carl Pearce’s blockbusting, long -range strike was superbly diverted aside by the Leverstock goalkeeper.
However, during the latter stages of the first-half and shortly after the interval, Wembley were put under pressure. Their slim lead should have been whittled away, but, fortunately, the home side did not have a potent goalscorer in their ranks to put away a couple of decent chances of levelling matters.
It required a second Wembley goal to keep the hosts at bay, and it duly arrived in the 59th minute. Pearce delivered a brilliant long centre from the right. Jermaine Heron’s initial strike was blocked, but the alert Fehmi-Gil followed up to plant in the rebound.
Heron then should have netted Wembley’s third goal, but somehow fired wide with an empty net in front of him. However, he eventually made amends by scoring in the 72nd minute, skimming the ball home with a deft header following a short corner routine to wrap up Wembley’s win.
Leverstock did manage to pull a goal back through Jonathan Lacey’s surging run down the right, six minutes later. But a post and an outstanding full-length stop from Grigoli Zulmatashvili, prevented them reducing the arrears any further.
WEMBLEY: Zulmatashvili, Pearce (Carroll 88), Weir, Walters, Brown, Humphries,
Heron, Amallel, Wright, Fehmi-Gil (Witham 83), McKee (Salako 55).
